2022 Annual Meeting: Understanding LGBTQ Patients

WPS 2022 Annual Meeting: This activity will describe the changes in acceptance of homosexuality in cultures and history; help psychiatrists recognize their roles in understanding and accepting LGBTQ issues; explain the process of “coming out” and the role psychiatry can play; and provide awareness of recent social and political events and how they effect LGBTQ patients.
DC State Medical Board Requires 2 LGBTQ Educational Units for Licensure. This 1 hour activity meets the DC state medical board LGBTQ cultural competency educational unit required for licensure. DC physicians who need access to the 2nd required unit can access a free activity provided by SMI Advisor and the American Psychiatric Association made possible by a SAMHSA grant.
