• CoChaired the PAHO Forum on Bioethics, Public Health and Health Policy at the World Congress of Public Health in Rio de Janeiro where he presented Modernising Health Systems: a 21st Century Essential Prerogative (August 22)
• Served as a Scientific Reviewer at the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (July 19th)
• Chaired the ECT Practices, Human Rights, and Ethical Considerations symposium and Consensus Work Group, at the World Psychiatric Association's International Congress in Istanbul, Turkey (July15)
