WPS Members Lead Sessions at APA Meeting in Toronto

Antonia Baum, MD presented at the scientific sessions of the International Society for Sport Psychiatry on “Doping in the Athletic Arena – establishing a position statement of ISSP.  Dr. Baum also presented on “Suicide and the Homosexual Athlete” at a symposium on Gender Issues in Sport.  She had two posters accepted under new research: “Plastic Surgery and the Doctor-Patient Relationship” and Antidepressant Use and Cosmetic Surgery.”

Brian Crowley, MD presented “Comprehensive Psychiatry in 2006: Confidentiality and Access to Care in Private Practice and in Military Practice” in Symposium 90. Audio tape is available. Dr. Crowley continues to serve on the Council on Psychiatry and Law and on the Isaac Ray Award Committee.

Edmund Howe, MD presented “Update in Bioethics, 2006”  Dr. Howe has annual updated versions of this course at both the APA Annual Meeting and the Psychiatric Institute for over 10 years.

Louis Kopolow, MD presented “The Effects of Bupropione XL versus Sertralina and Escitalopram on Pleasure, Concentration, Interest and Energy in Patients with Major Depression at the May 22 Poster Session at the APA meeting in Toronto.

William Lawson, MD, PhD presented “Bipolar Disorder – Targeting Treatment for Special Populations” on May 20 at APA.  He participated in two roundtables in Toronto, “Women’s Life Cycle in Mental Health” and “Global Mental Health Disparities: A Culture Perspective and the Potential for Formal and Informal Exchanges.
